The Halls of Residence at UQ Gatton is more than just a place to live; it's a way of life! Life in Halls gives students a unique opportunity for intellectual, social and personal development in a safe and dynamic residential community. Starting at University where a student can be just another face in the crowd, residents on campus share a unique partnership with other residents and dedicated staff, which supports and enhances their student experience.
Residents enjoy:
- A private room with a large desk and bookshelves, plenty of cupboard space and window security screens
- 21 meals per week with options for vegetarians and special diets, and packed lunches for excursions and field days
- A common room attached to each Hall with coffee making facilities for relaxation and entertainment
- Shared/mixed bathroom facilities
- Air-conditioned tutorial rooms for study groups
- Reading and recreation rooms for lounging, chatting and reading
- Lounge area with television
- Free laundry facilities including washing machines, dryers, outdoor clothes line, irons and ironing boards
- Covered outdoor area including built in BBQ for each Hall
- Bike racks with bike maintenance station
- Television and data connection to all rooms
- WiFi available in each Hall
The Halls of Residence also offers self-catered facilities (Thynne C) to students with special dietary requirements. These facilities include a modern kitchen equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, stove, oven, kettle, toaster, lockable cupboards and dining room suite; a common lounge area; and internet connection and television cabling in your room. The self-catering option gives you the opportunity to maintain your independence and to cook for yourself in a smaller community, whilst still having all the conveniences of living on campus. Residents still have the option of purchasing meals at the dining hall.
